Eastern Washington & Northern Idaho are home to a wide variety of public and private universities. Students travel from around the world to attend one of the colleges here.

Washington Universities

Eastern Washington University

Eastern Washington University is a four-year, public university. It is located in the small town of Cheney, Washington - just 30 minutes from Spokane, Washington. It sits on a 30 acre campus of golden, rolling hills and basalt outcroppings. The campus has a number of recreation opportunities including a rock climbing wall, an ice rink for skating and hockey, an aquatic center, a fitness center, and more. There are also different clubs to join or create and a variety of sports that will suit any student. Eastern is known for its diverse population. Their students come from 43 states and 70 countries. More than 1 in 3 are from diverse backgrounds, and over 50 percent are the first in their families to attend college. EWU offers a support program for students having a hard time with academics. In the JFK library you'll find tutors in every subject open to helping students - with homework, writing, labs, technology, etc.

Eastern Washington University - Catalyst

Eastern Washington University also has a building located on the south side of the university district in Spokane, Washington - also known as the southeast side of downtown. It was a joint project of Avista Development and McKinstry and provides students with modern, high tech-classrooms and immersive learning experiences. The building hosts a variety of classes for students who may live in Spokane including business, entrepreneurship, computer science, design, creative writing, social work, and some health sciences.

Gonzaga University

Gonzaga University is a private four-year catholic university and is 152 acres at the heart of the university district in Spokane, Washington. In the last four consecutive years, Gonzaga has ranked in the top 100 national universities by News and World Reports. On top of that, Gonzaga Universities' Mens basketball team is ranked the #1 team in and is favored to win March Madness every year. Their community of students is unlike any other. Before game day you'll find students lined up overnight to get free tickets. They also have other sports for students to participate in. While Gonzaga offers a multitude of different degrees, it is best known for its' engineering and business programs. The focus at Gonzaga is 100% on the students. with small class sizes, they have the ability to seek 1-1 help to thrive.

Washington State University

Washington State University is a public, four-year university. It is located in Pullman, Washington on 1,742 acres of land. WSU offers a mix of academic and social life. The university offers education that will spur action through research and being mentored by professors who are leaders in their fields. Some of the top degree programs are medicine, pharmacy, and veterinarian. Students are also given the opportunity to study abroad through 560 programs which cover 7 continents. You'll also find the community rally together for events and games (especially football) all year long. As WSU states, "this is the good life. And it can be yours."

Washington State University - Spokane

Washington State University also has a conveniently located Spokane campus, right next to Gonzaga University. This location is all about the health sciences - medicine, nursing, pharmacy, nutrition & exercise, and speech & hearing since 2010.

University of Washington - Spokane

While the University of Washington's main campus is located on the west side of Washington, there is also a Spokane campus in the University District. University of Washington partnered with Gonzaga to create the University of Washington school of medicine and "educate the next generation of physicians." The 80,000 sq ft building has top tier technology for their medical students and was newly constructed in 2022. The University of Washington believes that "Educating tomorrow’s doctors in and for Spokane and Eastern Washington is a top priority."

Whitworth University

Whitworth University is a private Christian liberal arts University. It is located on the north side of Spokane in a suburban area. It is ranked #1 in best value school in the West and best undergraduate teaching in the west according to U.S. News. Whitworth has Christian professors, regular chapel service and a network of Christian-based small groups. The student life is focused on growing close knit relationship with people of the same faith, so that students may grow in relationship with God in a welcoming community. You'll find these communities enjoying the beautiful scenery together across campus - biking, laying in a hammock, playing outdoor games, and more. Spokane Community College

Spokane Community College is a two-year college. They offer courses to students of all ages, including students in running start students and students already in the work force. They specifically focus on different trades including cosmetology, culinary, healthcare, welding, and more for those who desire the fast track to a career.

Spokane Falls Community College

Spokane Falls Community College is a two-year college west of downtown Spokane. Spokane Falls Community College is similar to Spokane Community College and is run by Life Center Church. They focus on making it easy for students to complete general education requirements at a more affordable cost, and then transfer to a four-year university for further education.

Idaho Universities

University of Idaho

The University of Idaho is a four-year public university located in the college town of Moscow Idaho. It is ranked one of the best 25 outdoor schools in America, the most beautiful campus in Idaho, & among the top 8% of colleges in the nation. U of I's goal is to help you find your passion by offering classroom work, hands-on experiences, and research. The University of Idaho also has extensions in Boise, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho Falls, and is in 42 other countries. To make it even easier for students, they have online degrees to learn from anywhere. On campus, they have a fun student life with an emphasis on athletics and the outdoor recreation.  Just blocks away from campus you'll find local coffee shops, restaurants, shops, and art galleries in the tight knit town.

University of Idaho - Coeur d'Alene

The University of Idaho also has a campus in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho which offers 30+ undergraduate and graduate degrees. North Idaho College

North Idaho College is a two-year community college in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They have a wide variety of students including workforce adults and high school students earning dual credits. North Idaho College is situated on the north end of Coeur d'Alene Lake, near downtown. Imagine those beautiful views! "NIC plays a vital role in the region's economic development by preparing competent, trained employees for area businesses, industries, and governmental agencies," with more than 80 degree oppurtunities.

Lewis-Clark State College - Coeur d'Alene

Lewis-Clark State College is originally located in Lewiston, Idaho. However, there is also a smaller campus in Coeur d'Alene. LC State is among the best ranked for their nursing and radiographic science degrees. They are also ranked number 7 for value in the west by U.S. News & World Report.
